No Poverty in Uganda
DESCRIPTION:
Up to 42% of the population in Sub-Saharan Africa continues to live below the poverty line. The first Sustainable Development goal is “No Poverty,” because poverty doesn’t just cause hunger or homelessness. It also manifests in limited access to education and other basic services, social discrimination and exclusion, and the breakdown of family.
Sam and Irene are two social innovators in Uganda who have demonstrated what it looks like to be a refuge for the poor – to stand against the ruthless. They have personally fostered over 40 children and then encouraged others to do the same. This resulted in a Uganda foster family network ensuring that many vulnerable children find a loving and long-term family. They have supported each of their children through college by backbreaking toil on a family farm – giving this next generation an opportunity to break the cycle of poverty and live a better life.
PLEASE PRAY FOR:
- Sam and Irene as they continue caring for vulnerable children
- For the success of the Foster Family Network in Uganda
- For education and family thriving to break the cycle of poverty
