There is an estimated 800 million people around the world that remain chronically undernourished (Center for Global Development). Although many organizations are fighting the issue of hunger in developing countries, there are many root causes that still need to be addressed such as distribution problems and the cycle of poverty and subsistence farming. One Local Expert recently told us that if they could help local farmers get their products into the nearby city’s market instead of selling them to a distributor, they would make at least triple their income. This simple barrier–a lack of transportation–is keeping his entire community in poverty.
