Reduced Inequality in Mumbai
DESCRIPTION:
For the poorest girls in Mumbai the inequality gap is staggering, leaving them extremely vulnerable. Female adult literacy rate in India stands at 47%. Many never receive an education and are never able to get employment that provides for their basic survival. Many end up falling prey to traffickers.
The social innovators who work at Jyoti Kalash are dedicated to imparting fundamental life changes with compassion and integrity to marginalized women, children at risk and survivors of human trafficking. After years of running a residential home, the hope at Jyoti Kadash is to pioneer foster care in Mumbai. They know that the greatest longing of every child is to have a family.
