In 2021, we and many of our partners saw hopes deferred again and again due to COVID-19 and many other delays. It was a year of much learning, creative thinking, and listening to those on the ground as they shared with us their struggles and their insights. As we enter now into a new year, we remain filled with possibility and expectation. Together, we have kept hope alive.
Against all odds, it was also a year of incredible impact – proving once again that standing with people of wonder and power is the most effective way to bring community change.
Here is a small glimpse of what was accomplished this year:
- 28 small businesses completed their year of start-up coaching for a total of 336 coaching meetings. One year since launching, these 28 businesses have provided school fees, better nutrition, and employment opportunities throughout East Africa.
- 37 Celebrating Children Seminars, run by 16 facilitators in 5 countries, trained a total of 1757 participants, impacting 35,589 children and their communities.
- We launched Thrive Africa: a continent-wide initiative beginning for 8 new countries, with a future total of 300+ education centers, 79 healthcare centers, and 9 agricultural centers, impacting an estimated total of 42,000,000 community members by 2037.
Together, we are unleashing a grassroots movement to harness the power of these local changemakers, creating a cycle of positive change for generations to come. Our hope, our belief, is in the strength and potential already at work in these communities, just waiting for the chance to explode.
